'Fine' può essere usato:

1) Come aggettivo per eventi o cose col significato di ‘bello’, ‘accettabile’.

Today the weather is fine.
Oggi il tempo è bello.

2) Oppure col significato di ‘bene’ riferito a persone.

- How are you?
Come stai?
- Fine thanks!
Bene grazie!

- Would you like another beer?
Vuoi un’altra birra?
- No, thanks. I’m fine.
No, grazie. Sto bene così, sono a posto.

- That’s fine: va bene.

- Kate, this is your new office.
Kate, questo è il tuo nuovo ufficio.
- That’s fine.
Va bene.

- That’s fine by me: per me va bene.

- Dad, can I come with you?
Papà, posso venire con te?
- Yes, that’s fine by me.
Sì, per me va bene.

Entrambi si usano per rispondere in modo positivo a una richiesta o a una decisione.

- Tom can come with us.
Tom può venire con noi.
- That’s fine.
Ok va bene.
