So: così, talmente.
Quando precede un aggettivo o un avverbio, ne intensifica il grado.
Con questa costruzione si usa spesso nelle esclamazioni.
I'm so tired!
Sono così stanco! (sono molto stanco)
I'm so sorry!
Sono così dispiaciuto! (mi dispiace tanto)

Una costruzione molto usata è “so … that …” e corrisponde alla forma italiana ‘così … che …’

Sono così stanco che non riesco a mantenere gli occhi aperti.
Susy speaks so quickly that I can’t understand her.
Susy parla così velocemente che non riesco a capirla.
Se si vuole enfatizzare una determinata quantità, ‘so’ può anche accompagnarsi a ‘much’, ‘little’, ‘many’, ‘few’, seguiti da nomi non numerabili o numerabili.

La costruzione con ‘that’ è possibile anche con ‘so much’, ‘so many’, ‘so little’, e ‘so few’:
